Senior Product Development Scientist

Assists the Sales/Marketing department by developing new food products that will support the companies new business pipeline. Manages the Product Development process from concept through commercialization.

  • Develop understanding of ingredients, products, processes and packaging to support development of new product platforms

  • Develop understanding of ingredients, products, processes and packaging to support development of new products

  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality.

  • Responsible for compliance with Food Legislation.

  • Assists/Supports Production staff during new product launches and whenever R&D support is needed.

  • Coordinate NEW product opportunities with internal departments, (Purchasing, Production, and Quality).

  • Keeps accurate records of entire product development process.

  • Develops specifications for NEW/EXISTING products.

  • Evaluates alternate suppliers for raw materials.

  • Request the scheduling and implementation of Production R&D trials.

  • Provides feedback on issues regarding R&D or Production.

  • Ability to work in food allergen areas (Nuts, Dairy, Egg, etc.)

  • Sets up new items for commercialization through internal ERP software.

  • Hosts Food Safety/Formula Review Meetings for food safety and regulatory compliance prior to commercialization.

  • Assists with maintaining a well organized and clean lab environment 

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • 4 Year College Degree – Food Science preferred. Culinary training very helpful.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing/product development environment.

  • Knowledge of applicable technical analyses and product development tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
